Ranger Px 3 2
PX 3.2L | STAGE 1 | 180KW

The Ranger 3.2L Stage-1 upgrade starts with our trained technician setting your vehicle up on one of our dynamometers and performing a baseline dyno run. This allows us to firstly make sure everything is working A-OK and secondly it gives us standard figure from your car to compare to once the upgrade is completed. We then commence the upgrades by replacing the cold side intercooler pipe as the rubber hose leading up to the throttle body from the vehicle's intercooler is well known to fail even on totally standard vehicles. The result is a Check Engine Light, a lack of power and black smoke out of the exhaust. We replace this with a high-quality silicone part and new heavy duty hose clamps from Process West – this is great insurance and a permanent solution to the problem. We then fit a Process West SEPR8R air-oil separator to capture oil mist entering your engine's inlet manifold which can build up in your engine's intake.

We complete the package by custom tuning your vehicle's ECU on the dyno in real time utilizing the latest ECU tuning software to maximize power, torque and fuel efficiency. We follow that up with testing your vehicle on the road to make final adjustments, optimizing your vehicle's performance and driveability. At the end of the upgrade, we provide you with a dyno graph comparing the before and after power & torque increase the upgrade has made to your vehicle.

Like all of our upgrade packages the Stage-1 package is modular in that it allows the customer to add to the package minimising the requirement to spend money twice when and if further upgrades are desired. We also always strive to bring you the maximum safe performance with high quality components while maintaining reliability and improving driveability.

Catch Can – Process West, Diesel - Internal combustion engines like the engine in your 4WD will in normal use have some combustion pressure leak past its piston rings. This pressure if not released, will build up inside the engine’s crankcase leading to engine oil leaks and a negative effect on engine power. To control this pressure build-up, the manufacturer has installed a vent on the top cover of your engine that plumbs this pressure into the inlet of your turbocharger, however that pressure takes with it vapour that contains an engine oil mist.

The heart of the Process West SEPR8R system is a uniquely designed Catch Can with an internal filtration system that scrubs the oil mist before plumbing the vapour back into the turbocharger as per the OEM routeing. From the factory this 'air cleaning' doesn't take place, so the oil that comes out of the top engine cover ends up lining the insides of your intercooler and inlet system resulting in both reduced performance and economy over time.

Manufactured from Billet Aluminium with removable lid and filtration assembly of 650ml capacity, the ‘Sepr8r’ features an over pressure relief valve incorporated to prevent system malfunction in the case of blockage. It also features a drain port incorporated into main housing with optional drain valve available. The filter features a unique metal matrix filtration system that is anti-clog and also washable/reusable with low restriction filtering. The laser cut bracket and moulded temperature resistance houses are shaped for the engine bay of each vehicle. Process West was established in 2003 and run out of a purpose-built facility in Berkeley, NSW.

Diesel Tuning - For the most part, diesel 4×4’s are bought and employed to do a job, it may be towing, regularly carting heavy loads or used as daily transport with the odd trip off-road. Whatever is it, chances are that the vehicle may struggle to do that job in one area or another, maybe the vehicle struggles to pull the van or it uses too much fuel or it has annoying flat spots or a delay in the throttle response, no car is perfect. But by reprogramming the vehicles factory ECU, we can iron out those flat spots, increase the vehicle’s torque output and increase the general enjoyment of driving your diesel to get your car closer to perfect and help it to do the job you originally employed it to do.

Safety First - We at HPF have a set of tuning guidelines in place that ensures we do not exceed predetermined SAFE air / fuel ratio & boost level parameters; in some cases, the air / fuel ratio is the same as standard. This guideline is in place to provide you with the safest and most reliable result and instead of chasing a maximum power figure, we tune your engine to these SAFE parameters and the increased power is a result of that. As each car is individually tuned on the dyno, the final outcome has been scrutinized and road tested prior to being returned to the customer.

      PX 3.2L | STAGE 3 | 215KW

The Ranger 3.2L Stage-3 upgrade starts with our trained technician setting your vehicle up on one of our dynamometers and performing a baseline dyno run. This allows us to firstly make sure everything is working A-OK and secondly it gives us standard figure from your car to compare to once the upgrade is completed. We then commence the upgrades by fitting a Process West – ‘TERRATUFF’ front mount intercooler kit. With the Ford Ranger used by many owners to tow, either tradie style or caravans, the factory intercooler is one of the first things we address and to prove its worth, we have seen a 40 degree drop in intake temperatures after installation!! We then fit a Process West SEPR8R air oil separator to capture oil mist before it enters your engine's inlet manifold where it can build up in your engine's intake. As the power and torque of the 3.2L engine falls off a cliff after 2900rpm we call upon a GTurbo FR2-G300 NextGEN Turbocharger to rectify the situation. The Gturbo FR2-G300 turbocharger offers much increased air flow and additional reliability over the standard turbocharger it’s also a direct fit and requires no modifications to install. The fitment and tune of the FR2-G300 turbocharger vastly broadens the power and torque of the 3.2L engine aligning it with most modern 3L V6 turbo diesels, taking engine power to around 215kw/650nm - around 45% more power & torque at 3500rpm!

We complete the package by custom tuning your vehicle's ECU on the dyno and Transmission Control Unit (TCU) in real time utilizing the latest tuning software to maximize power, torque and fuel efficiency. We test your vehicle on the road to make final adjustments, optimizing your vehicle's performance, driveability and transmission shift points. At the end of this upgrade, we will provide you with a dyno graph comparing the before and after power & torque increase the upgrade has made to your vehicle.

TCU, Transmission recalibration - Late model AT (Automatic Transmissions) are all computer controlled via a Transmission Control Unit (TCU), some TCUs are built in to the PCM (Powertrain Control Module), while others are separate computers. By optimizing the AT shift points and line pressures we are able to match the AT’s shift strategies with the engines new powerband. This can transform the way the car drives and for many models it’s a mandatory requirement when parts like superchargers, large turbochargers, camshaft upgrades, high stall torque converters, etc, are Installed. TCU tuning can also assist when larger tyres and or alternate diff gear ratios are fitted.

Intercooler, Diesel – Basically, the intercooler’s purpose is to remove the heat made by the turbocharger when it compresses the intake air to make boost. Cool, dense air is the best for performance and the engine’s ECU monitors the boosted air temperature via a sensor positioned after the intercooler, the ECU then alters engine power based on that temperature signal in order to maintain safe and reliable operation. Sustained hard driving like towing or four-wheel driving where the turbo is constantly working, will result in the intercooler reaching a state of ‘Heat Soak’, meaning it cannot pull any more heat out of the boosted air. Heat soaking of the intercooler will result in the engines ECU lowering the power output of the engine when the power is needed the most.

      Pw Hilux D4 D Sepr8 R
      SEPR8R Air Oil Separator | Toyota N70 Hilux 2008 to 2015

      Product Description

Inlet manifold pollution is the enemy of any diesel engine, particularly the Common Rail high efficiency engines that make up the majority of current 4x4s. To counter this Process West have developed the TERRATUFF SEPR8R, an advanced catch can system for your 4x4 that uses state of the art industrial filtration methods and integrates them into a seamless and properly engineered kit that will bolt directly to your 4x4.

      TERRATUFF SEPR8R Design Philosphy

The heart of the Process West SEPR8R system is a uniquely designed Catch Can with a sophisticated internal filtration system that takes the oil polluted air coming from the rocker cover of your diesel and scrubs the oil mist from it before the gas then goes back into the inlet manifold. From the factory this 'air cleaning' doesn't take place, so the oil that comes out of the rocker cover ends up filling the intercooler and inlet system resulting in both reduced performance and economy over time.

      TERRATUFF SEPR8R Installation

Each and every TERRATUFF SEPR8R comes as a complete bolt on kit to fit your specific vehicle (although a generic DIY version is also available). With the TERRATUFF SEPR8R kit you will receive the billet aluminium catch can with internal filtration system, a precision bracket to bolt into your engine bay, moulded hoses for 'plug and play' perfect fitment, along with the required clamps and mounting hardware. There is also a complete instruction booklet included with each and every TERRATUFF SEPR8R making its fitment a genuine DIY application.

TT | Front Mount Intercooler Kit | Ford PX/PX2 Ranger and Mazda BT50

      Product Description

A fresh new development in the Process West 4x4 Enhancement range is the TERRATUFF Front Mount Intercooler system for the Ford Ranger PX1/PX2 and all generation BT50 3.2 Mazda utes. Designed not only with market leading performance in mind, OEM level durability is also part of the TERRATUFF arsenal, offering manufacturer style design and fitment, followed through with industry leading testing and validation.

This means that when you fit a Process West TERRATUFF Intercooler system to your Ranger/BT50 you have made a choice to have not only the best charge air cooling, resulting in significant power and torque gains, but you have also chosen a product that will last the life of your vehicle no matter what you throw at it. That’s the Process West TERRATUFF way!

Ranger/BT50 TERRATUFF Design Philosphy and Parts

Heart of the Process West TERRATUFF Intercooler system is a durable front mounted Bar and Plate intercooler core. All TERRATUFF intercoolers use Bar and Plate construction due to not only its effective cooling and heat-sink capability, but also because it is the most durable and impact resistant of all intercooler types. Measuring in at 700m x 247mm x 75mm the Ranger/BT50 TERRATUFF core also offers a massive increase in cooling surface area as well as overall thickness.

The traditional bug-bear of intercooler upgrades – piping integrity – has also been addressed with the TERRATUFF system. Specifically moulded silicone hoses of four ply construction are utilised throughout, and when combined with high-durability constant tension hose-clamps, tying to the mandrel bent aluminium pipe-work, the result is of factory quality and dependability.

A final (and important) part of the TERRATUFF design is the use of isometric rubber mounts for the intercooler core. This means that in extreme conditions – such as demanding off road use – that the intercooler itself can flex its mounts with the rest of the vehicle and relieve strain on the mountings and pipe-work. The long term effect of this is no cracked mounting brackets and reduced likelihood of ever failing a hose connection.

As you can see by now the Process West TERRATUFF intercooler solution is a serious product for long-term serious application.

      Ranger/BT50 TERRATUFF Testing

There is no point in putting a vehicle on the dyno to try and show the effects of intercooling on performance. While there might be a little torque or power gain, the job of the TERRATUFF intercooler upgrade is to work in real-world conditions without the assistance of a climate controlled dyno room and the cooler itself fed with artificial airflow from a fan. This might convince some to buy intercooler upgrades, but it doesn’t really tell you how, or even if, they work.

Instead the Process West engineers took a different approach to validate the TERRATUFF design. Real world simulation rather than a dyno run was decided on, and with that in mind the team put together a test rig for our development Ranger to show the precise and measured result of fitting a Process West TERRATUFF intercooler upgrade. The schedule for this testing is laid out below –

      • Ford Ranger is loaded with 650kg of concrete blocks in the tray
      • A standardised 4km uphill run with an elevation of 310m (nearly 8% avg grade)
      • Hold 80km/h road speed using Cruise Control (with only a small traffic speed variance)
      • Use our racetrack developed AIM datalogging system to measure all of the pertinent data points to ensure the data for complete cooling effectiveness is generated.

This test procedure was carried out back to back with both factory and Process West TERRATUFF intercoolers on the same day in the same ambient conditions.

Looking at the datalogging shows that the factory intercooler peaked at 49C (with a faster rise to temperature) than the Process West TERRATUFF intercooler system which peaked at just 28C. That’s a massive 43% improvement over stock cooling with Process West TERRATUFF. The gains this shows are three-fold with not only hikes in Torque and Power you can feel through the seat of the pants, but there is also the flow on effect of reduced EGT figures to help the engine live a longer and happier life.

      RANGER PX MK1 & MK2 - 2.2L | ECU REMAP

CRD-Flash tuning is THE state of the art way of improving both power and torque for your modern common rail diesel engine. By re-calibrating the factory engine computer unit (ECU) we are able to optimize the engine power and torque output as well as improve the vehicle’s fuel economy by as much as 10%*. Reprogramming the vehicle’s ECU has a number of advantages not at least is that we can retain all of the manufacturers inbuilt safety features as we are not tricking or going behind the ECU’s back. Additionally, reprogramming the ECU gives us the unparalleled ability to alter torque management tables, throttle mapping, boost pressure, fuel pressure & injector timing to name just a few… something no individual chip or module can come close to claiming. Real world average gains of around 20%* more power and 20%* more torque with no degradation to reliability or drivability shows that with CRD-Flash tuning technology you really can have your cake and eat it too!

The process typically takes a period of one day, where our specialist tuners set the vehicle up on our All Wheel Dyno for a baseline dyno run. The vehicle is then connected to our state of the art ECU reading and writing hardware. Our tuner then continues by adjusting the ECU parameters, all the time monitoring the progress on the dyno screen and via our ECU logging devices and EGT sensors.

After the tuning process each vehicle is returned to the customer along with a dyno graph showing the baseline dyno run and the final run, this graph will display the gains in both Power and Torque for comparison.

The BT50 3.2L Stage-1 upgrade starts with our trained technician setting your vehicle up on one of our dynamometers and performing a baseline dyno run.
